Introducing the MSM Training Manual
05 June 2011At the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation the Men’s Health Division is one of the few sites in Africa where studies are being carried out to further the knowledge on how vulnerable key populations, particularly men who have sex with men (MSM), can be protected from HIV. The Foundation has published an up-to-date training manual that is relevant and accessible to African health care workers and counsellors.
Men who have sex with men (MSM), people who use drugs and injection drug users (IDU) and people who sell sexual services (SW) have been identified as being disproportionately affected by HIV, yet few South African programmes cater to their needs.
At the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation the Men's Health Division is one of the few sites in Africa where studies are being carried out to further the knowledge on how these vulnerable key populations, particularly MSM, can be protected from HIV. The Foundation has published an up-to-date manual that is relevant and accessible to African health care workers and counsellors. The manual is a helpful guide to communicating with this often hard to reach group, and will increase understanding of their needs and challenges.
